토마스 드 케이세르 역시 그에 관한 정보가 부족하다.
이로 인해서 비슷한 스타일의 인물을 그린 화가들과 혼동하는 원인이 된다.

Thomas de Keyser – Anatomical Lesson of Dr. Sebastiaen Egbertsz. de Vrij, 1619

  

암스테르담에서 태어나서 죽은 화가 겸 건축가로,

그의 아버지 역시 건축가 겸 조각가인 헨드릭 드 케이세르(Hendrik de Keyser)다.
코르넬리스 반 데르 보트(Cornelis van der Voort)로부터 그림을 배웠다고 하고,

아버지로 부터 배웠다고도 전한다.
렘브란트가 암스테르담에 오기 이전 초상화가로 유명했다.
그는 실물 크기의 인물뿐만 아니라,

섬세한 마무리와 섬세한 디테일에 주목할만 하다.
그의 그림에서 렘브란트의 명암법에 영향을 받았음을 알 수 있다.

그의 초기 작품은 암스테르담 외과 의사 (Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum)의 그룹 초상화로 1619 년에 그렸다.

소규모의 개인 초상화뿐만 아니라 다른 단체 초상화도 그렸다.
