애드리안 쿠르테 (Adriaen Coorte, 1665-1707)

애드리안 쿠르테의 생애는 거의 알려져 있지 않지만 미델부르크에서 태어나 사망한 것으로 추정된다.
1680년경 암스테르담에서 멜퀴오르 혼데코에테르(Melchior d'Hondecoeter)로부터 그림을 배웠다.
혼데코에테르는 새를 많이 그린 화가로 유명하며,

1683년부터 미델부르크에서 작업실을 열고 생활 속에서 만나는,

식기와 도기, 과일, 채소, 조개류 등을 소재로 정교한 정물화를 그렸다.
코르테도 베르메르처럼 1950년까지 잊혀진 화가였다.
네덜란드 미술사학자인 로렌스 볼(Laurens J. Bol)의 노력으로 발굴되어,

1958년 쿠르테의 작품 35점을 도르트히즈 박물관(Dordrechts Museum)에서 전시회를 가졌으며,

1978년 작품집이 출판되었다.
