Anthony van Dyck - Frans Snyders

안트베르펜에서 태어난 프란스 스나이데르는,

장식적 효과가 풍부한 화려한 화면묘사가 특기였으며,

정물화, 동물화, 수렵화에서 탁월한 기량을 나타냈다.

처음 페테르 브뤼헬 2세와 과 헨드리크 반 발렌 밑에서 그림공부를 했으며,

1608년 이탈리아 여행을 통해 견문을 넓혔다.
1611년 플랑드르의 화가 코르넬리스와 폴드 보스의 누이인 마르가레타 드 보스와 결혼했다.

처음에는 꽃과 과일, 기타 정물을 그리는데 전념했으나,

나중에는 생생한 동물들의 묘사로 전환했다.

그가 그린 사냥과 짐승들의 싸움 장면들은,

풍부하고 다양한 구성으로 이루어져 있다.

그의 소묘는 정확하고 활기차며,

그의 필치는 대담하면서도,

가죽과 모피의 상이한 질감들을 완벽하게 표현하고 있다.
루벤스는 종종 그를 고용하여,

자기 그림 속의 동물과 과일 등 정물을 그리게 했다.
