Aelbert Cuyp - A Cavalry Trooper Decorating His Dappled Grey Horse With

 

네덜란드의 클로드 로랭으로 불린 화가는 네덜란드의 골든 에이지 시대 화가다.
그는 초상화 화가였던 아버지인 야코프 헤리츠 코이프(Jacob Gerritsz Cuyp)으로부터 그림을 배웠다.
동물화, 역사화, 초상화도 그렸지만, 풍경화를 많이 그린 화가로

초기엔 네덜란드 풍경화가인 얀 반 코옌의 영향을 많이 받았다.
그의 활동기간은 1639년부터 1660년까지 약 20년간이며,

1658년 미망인인 코르넬리아 보스만과 결혼 후에는 거의 그림을 그리지 않았지만

독실한 칼빈주의자인 그는 개혁교회의 집사와 장로가 되었다.
햇빛과 대기를 통해 네덜란드 시골을 시적으로 표현한 그의 작품은

단순하면서도 광활하고 풍부하면서 분위기 묘사가 따뜻하다.
