알레고리(Allegory)의 어원은
그리스어의 allegoria로서 ‘다른 것을 말한다’의 뜻으로 추상적인 개념과 사상을
비유적이고 구체적인 형상으로 바꾸어 암시하는 표현법을 말한다.
주로 의인화(擬人化)의 동물화(여우로서 교활을 표시하는 따위)의 수법을 취하며 논리적이다.
내용과 형상의 결합이 의도적이며 흔히 인습적으로 고정되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
전통적인 신화 · 전설 등에 의한 우의화(무장한 미네르바를 묘사함으로써 정의의 힘을 상징하는 것 등)는 수없이 많다.

/ 매화꽃 찬란히 연분홍 눈 뿌린 섬진강 언덕배기에도
/ 얼어붙은 땅 뚫고 올라온 야들한 쑥, 냉이의 짙은 향내 속에도
/ 넘실대는 파도 타고 뱃노래 가락 흥겨운 남도의 바다에도
봄바람에 부풀어 올라 들킬까 부끄러운 새악시 마음속에도

하늘에 먼지 자욱하다 해서 봄이 봄 같지 않다 하지 말자.
